From August 9 to 10 AST (Aptitude of Scholastic) of University of Cambridge commenced simultaneously in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Chongqin, Jinan, Hefei, Wuhan, Changchun and Yangzhou. The 2-day test included Mathematics, English and Physics, with each subject limited within 3 hours to finish. The International Department of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS), as the admission test center of Shandong Province for University of Cambridge, hosted the 2018 AST after making adequate communications and preparations to ensure a smooth process.
University of Cambridge founded its admission test center in China in 2003 and since then has been selecting Chinese outstanding high school graduates directly into Cambridge. The selecting system turned out to be a great success throughout those years of operation and have developed to be CEIS (Chinese Elite Identification System) after a considerable number of prestigious universities recognized and applied the system. Students in Grade 2 & 3 of senior high schools and Grade 1 university students may apply for CEIS and applicants shall attend AST, which is held annually in August. AST, also called Chinese Elite Identification System, combining Aptitude Test and Proficiency Test, is intended to select Chinese students with outstanding academic achievements to attend the admission test provided by top universities throughout the world.
